How Laurelin Labs content is made

The standards every page on this site is held to, published so they can be checked.

Everything on laurelinlabs.com is written or reviewed by a named person, Piers Butler, who is accountable for it. Every statistic links to the primary source that published it, quotations are verbatim, published and updated dates are real, and AI tools are used as drafting and checking assistants under a written rulebook, never as an unreviewed author. Content is scored before publication for whether it adds anything a reader cannot get elsewhere, and pages that fail that test do not ship. Corrections are made in place, dated, and acknowledged.

Who writes and who is accountable?

Piers Butler is the author of record for every page. His credentials, career history and verified profiles (Wikidata, ORCID, LinkedIn, GitHub) are on the About page, and every page carries a visible byline linking to it. Guest contributions, if any, will carry their own byline and profile.

How are claims sourced?

  • Every figure links to its primary source: the report, documentation page or dataset that first published it, not coverage of it. Where a primary source is paywalled or gone, the figure is removed rather than attributed to a secondary source.
  • Quotations are reproduced word for word with a machine-readable citation. Titles of cited works are never rewritten.
  • Claims about how Google and AI search systems behave are sourced to Google Search Central, the search quality rater guidelines or the platform's own documentation wherever such a source exists. Where only industry observation exists, the page says so.
  • The 330-check AEO audit cites a primary source for every check and marks each with a confidence level (verified, inferred, tactical, industry consensus).

How are AI tools used?

This site is built and maintained with the help of AI agents working from a structured knowledge vault and a written rulebook, as described in how this site was built. Language models draft, restructure, check and score; a person sets the intent, supplies the first-hand material, reviews every change as a diff and takes responsibility for what is published. No page is published without human review, and no page is published because a model produced it quickly.

How are dates and updates handled?

Each page shows a published date and, where it differs, an updated date, and the same dates are emitted in the page's structured data and social metadata. The updated date moves only when the substance of a page changes; it is never refreshed to look current. The sitemap carries the same dates.

How do you request a correction?

Email piers@laurelinlabs.com with the page URL and the issue. Factual errors are corrected in place and the updated date moved; where a correction changes a conclusion, a note is added to the page saying what changed and when.

What about commercial content?

Laurelin Labs sells consultancy. Service pages describe what we do and are labelled as services. Frameworks, articles, audit checks and tools are editorial, are not paid for by anyone, and do not carry affiliate links. Where a page references a Laurelin product or a sister company (Telperion Insights, Newsroom Studio), that relationship is stated on the page.
