The Agentic OS

Turning an assistant into an operating system.

Answer first

The Agentic OS turns an LLM assistant from a passive question-answerer into an active operating system by codifying work into a four-layer hierarchy: Domains, Tasks, Skills and Automations. Codifying behaviours into repeatable Skills, rather than running them ad hoc, makes the model a reliable team member rather than a slot machine.

The hierarchy

  • Domains, high-level categories like SEO, PPC, LLMO and content.
  • Tasks, discrete goals within a domain.
  • Skills, standardised, repeatable specifications that execute a task the same way every time.
  • Automations, Skills triggered by time or events.

Why it compounds

Without this hierarchy every methodology lives in someone’s head and cannot be optimised, measured or sold. With it, the Skill library becomes the unit of value and a source of compounding defensibility, each Skill has a designed scalar metric and can be improved continuously against it.
