AEO Schema Scanner

Last updated 13 June 2026.

This policy explains how the AEO Schema Scanner browser extension (“the extension”) handles information. The extension is published by Laurelin Labs Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 16724815), the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. Contact: piers@laurelinlabs.com.

The short version

The extension reads a page's structured data on your device only. That analysis is never transmitted, stored remotely, or shared. The extension has no server, no analytics, and no tracking. The only information we ever receive is what you choose to send us through the contact form inside the extension.

What the extension processes on your device

When you click the extension icon, it reads the current page's structured data (JSON-LD and microdata) and other publicly visible page markup, analyses it in the extension popup, and shows you the result. This processing happens entirely within your browser. This data is not sent to Laurelin Labs or any third party, and it is not retained after you close the popup.

What we collect (only if you choose to send it)

If you complete the contact form in the extension, we collect:

  • your name (optional);
  • your email address;
  • your selected interest (consultancy review and/or newsletter);
  • the URL of the page you were viewing when you submitted;
  • a timestamp.

A copy is also stored in your browser's local storage so you have a record. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and, if you opted in, to send our newsletter. We do not sell, rent, or share it, and we do not use it for advertising.

Lawful basis (UK GDPR)

We rely on your consent (newsletter) and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you initiate (consultancy contact). You can withdraw consent or ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing piers@laurelinlabs.com. You also have the right to access, correct, or port your data, and to complain to the ICO.

Permissions

The extension requests the minimum permissions needed: activeTab and scripting (to read and analyse the page only when you click the icon) and storage (to keep a local copy of anything you submit). It requests no host permissions and cannot run in the background or monitor your browsing.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Our use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension does not transfer page-scan data off the device at all, and uses contact-form data only for the purpose you provided it.

Third parties

If a form-handling service (for example, a form endpoint) is used to deliver your contact submission to us, your submitted details pass through that provider solely to reach us. No page-scan data is ever sent to any third party.

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change, and revise the date above.
