A free Chrome extension that reads any page’s structured data and shows three things: what is detected, what Google has deprecated or demoted, and what is missing to be the trusted answer in AI search. It also flags incomplete Organization and Person entities (missing sameAs, @id, logo, knowsAbout, jobTitle). The scan is 100% on-device. Open source.

The problem

Structured data has moved from a search-result nicety to one of the clearest ways a machine decides what a page is about, who is behind it, and whether it can be cited. But almost nobody can see what their own pages actually emit. Schema accretes over years, across plugins and redesigns, and most of it goes unaudited: good markup, dead-weight markup for features Google switched off, and fossils from vocabularies that died years ago.

What it checks

Click the icon and it injects a one-off reader that parses every JSON-LD block (including @graph, arrays and nested types) plus microdata, then returns a verdict: detected types with their source, deprecated or at-risk types with a plain note on what changed and when, and the recommended types missing for that page kind. For any Organization or Person it checks the properties that carry entity weight, sameAs, @id, logo, knowsAbout, jobTitle, and flags what is absent.

The deprecation map is current to 2026 (FAQ rich results removed May 2026; HowTo demoted March 2026; PracticeProblem removed January 2026; data-vocabulary.org long dead), and it is honest about nuance: FAQPage is still valid and still helps AI, it just no longer earns a Google feature.

Privacy by design

It requests no host permissions, only activeTab and scripting, so nothing runs until you click and it cannot watch your browsing. The page scan never leaves your browser. The only data that reaches Laurelin Labs is what you choose to enter in the contact form. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Try it

  1. Open chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions) and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Click Load unpacked and select the aeo-schema-scanner folder from the repo.
  3. Pin the flask icon, then click it on any page to scan its structured data.
  4. A one-click Chrome Web Store build is on the way.
