Entity Authority is how clearly Google can identify who an author or organisation is, and how consistently that identity is corroborated across the surfaces it trusts. It is not authority itself, it is authority’s resolvability. The work is to make real, earned authority legible to the knowledge graph, never to manufacture it.

Trust versus authority network

Trust signals are what you are: real expertise and accurate work. Authority network is how that trust is wired in and corroborated across Google’s graph of entities and surfaces. Most brands and leaders already have real, earned authority, career history, named clients, published frameworks, but the entity is fragmented across surfaces or invisible to the graph entirely. Wiring it in is high-leverage; manufacturing the underlying signals is forbidden and ineffective.

Layer 1, Establish the author entity

  • A canonical author page at /about or /author with full bio, career history, named clients, awards and credentials, the URL everything else references.
  • Person JSON-LD with a sameAs array to every genuinely-controlled profile (LinkedIn, GitHub, YouTube, Wikidata, speaker profiles).
  • Author bylines and Person markup on every article, linking back to the canonical page so authority compounds to the person.
  • A consistent name, role line and photo across every surface, the single cheapest authority win.

Layer 2, Corroborate across trusted nodes

Once the home base exists, build the corroborating references Google cross-checks: a Wikidata item where notability genuinely supports it, LinkedIn as a consistent entity node, accurate industry-registry listings, earned guest contributions and podcast or panel appearances. Everything here must be earned and real, the value is in genuine corroboration, never volume.

The hard line

Do not buy mentions, run PR-spray campaigns for footprint, or seed inauthentic references. Google’s spam systems are built to catch exactly that, and it undermines the genuine authority being built. Earned only.
